I had a really exciting day in blogging yesterday as I was nominated for my first blogger’s award:
The Liebster Award!
It’s now been a little over 4 months since I started blogging and I’ve been so grateful for all of the support that this community has given me! From followers to giveaways, recognition to shoutouts, and now The Liebster Award, I couldn’t be more thankful for the warm welcoming I’ve received from everyone.
I started this blog in secrecy from my real life and, while I still maintain that, I am so surprised by the growth I’ve made without having to share it with my thousand of friends on Facebook. And that deserves a big thanks to all of YOU. Even if you just click on my URL & make it to my homepage, your views are giving me the motivation to continue this journey that I’m on and now being nominated for the Liebster Award just gives me that extra push!
What Is The Liebster Award?
The Liebster Award is an acknowledgment given to bloggers by bloggers to help network for each other and connect with the blogging community. It helps new bloggers get recognized, allows others to find new blogs to follow, and supports the talent and creativity that goes into blogging!
First of all, thank you a million, Isa, for nominating me for this award! You can find Isa over at AmericanizedIsa where she writes about her experience with moving from Germany to the east coast of the United States, first as an au pair and now is here full-time! I love how she writes about how she’s an Americanized German because I just moved from Germany, so you could say I’m a Deutschlandized American (It sounds better how Isa puts it!).
The Rules for a Liebster Award Nomination:
- Have a display of the Liebster Award in your blog post or in the side bar of your blog
- Give thanks to the person who nominated you and include a link back to their blog
- Respond with answers to the 11 questions you were asked
- Nominate 5 – 11 blogs that you love
- Come up with 11 questions for your nominees
- Let your chosen Liebster award noms know they’ve been nominated by providing them with a link to your blog post
My Answers to Isa’s Questions:
1. Why did you start blogging?
I started blogging for so many reasons! I had obtained my Master’s Degree and was living in Germany with my husband when I decided that I wanted to take a break from education and work altogether to focus on traveling around Europe as much as I could. After exploring Europe for a couple of years, I had accumulated so many pictures and memories I decided I wanted a place to store all of that. I’ve always loved writing and thought that it was a perfect combination to start a blog!
2. What is the most beautiful place you have ever seen and why do you like it so much?
This is such a hard question for me to answer as I’ve been so fortunate to see some of the most beautiful places in the world. If I had to pick one, I would have to say that the most beautiful place that I had ever seen was Crete, but more specifically the Balos Lagoon. Even thinking about it now gives me goosebumps because it was such a dream!
Getting down to the lagoon requires an extensive hike but it was so worth it to see the crystal-clear teal waters complemented by a pink undertone of sand.
3. What is your favorite sport?
I’m an American so naturally football is my favorite sport! And I don’t mean fútbol (soccer to us Americans) but the actual Pigskin Football! I grew up in Indiana so the Indianapolis Colts are my favorite team. Even though they’re on a losing slump the past couple of seasons, I still support them; true fan right here!
4. If someone gave you 1 million dollars, what would you do?
If I had a million dollars I would do so many things! First, I’d pay off my student loans and then, to give back to my parents who have always done everything for me, I’d pay off their mortgage. Whatever is left over after that, I’d buy one of the many abandoned houses on an island in Greece & remodel it to my standards. Then spend the rest of my days living in paradise!
5. How much time do you spend blogging each week?
This is sort of a hard question for me to answer because almost everything I do in my free time is in line with blogging. If I were to add in all of the tweets, instagram grid planning, following and commenting on people’s blogs and taking photographs for my blog, I’d have to say I spend about 80-90 hours a week on that. If I were to just give a time frame for my actual writing and creating content for my blog, I would say I spend about 25-30 hours a week on it.
6. Are you a cat or dog person?
DOG! I’ve never really been a cat person but I did own one cat in my lifetime and she gave me the best 12 years. But, dogs are my true love. Their companionship and loyalty is untouchable to any other pet you could own. I was fortunate enough to rescue THE BEST pup, Bindi, about 4 years ago and she still brings me so much joy every single day!
7. What’s your favorite movie of all time?
Unfortunately, I’m not that big of a movie person; I have a hard time sitting still for more than an hour so I prefer watching TV series! But, if I had to pick a favorite movie of all time, it would have to be Shawshank Redemption. I’m a huge Morgan Freeman fan but who isn’t? He’s a legend!
8. If you could meet one famous person, who would it be and why?
This is an easy one for me! If I could meet any famous person it would be DAVE MATTHEWS! Some of you are probably reading this thinking, who the hell is Dave Matthews? If you haven’t listened to Dave Matthews Band, go look them up! They are going on their 27th year of touring in 2018 and how many bands can you say are still creating music together & touring after that long? The music that they create resonates feelings and emotions with me that take me back to special moments in my life. DMB produces a variety of music, ranging from funky dance jives to slow love jams. I’d choose to meet Dave Matthews because he truly cares about making this world a better place, hosts multiple charity concerts & is an all-around lover of nature and family. I’ve been to 25 Dave Matthews concerts in my lifetime and was super fortunate this past year to see him and guitarist Tim Reynolds for 4 shows in Europe. AND I WAS FRONT ROW! The closest I’ve ever been to “meeting” him.
9. What do you think your life will look like after you retire?
It’s so hard for me to look into the future that far but I would love to imagine a life surrounded by my husband and family, living in a paradise environment, sipping on wine from my vineyards and enjoying life as it should be lived.
10. What do you think when you see a spider?
EEEEK!!! That’s what I think! I don’t trust anything that crawls & stares at you without saying a word.
11. What’s your next big thing?
I’m not really sure about the answer to this question. My big thing just happened a month ago when I moved from Deutschland back to the states in California. With my husband’s job, we’re going to be moving every 2-5 years so I can never really say what my next big thing is because we live so spontaneously! If I had to HOPE for a next big thing, I’m really striving to be able to go freelance and create content that inspires others!
My Nominations for the Liebster Award:
I’m really surprised that Meera hasn’t been nominated for the Liebster Award yet because her content is so amazing! If you’d like to follow her lifestyle with travel adventures, along with some fashion inspo, go check her out!
Rebecca (Bee) and I have been involved in blog chats together and I’ve really gotten to know her! She’s a wonderful person who’s so supportive of fellow bloggers and not afraid to stand up for what she believes in! What I love about her blog is that it’s not specific to any theme. She writes about anything and everything, from travel to entertainment to beauty!
I’m such a fan of Rebecca’s blog as she focuses on my favorite thing: traveling, and my most hated thing: anxiety. She’s about to embark on an Australian journey at the beginning of the year so give her a follow to not miss out on her adventures!
Jen is a blogger that I stumbled upon recently and couldn’t help but feel inspired & motivated by the posts that she writes! Reading her content leaves me so at peace. You can find a little bit of everything on her blog like work out posts, which lights that fire under my butt to get motivated, and posts about being thankful & learning to cherish the small things in life, which truly inspires me!
Michaela’s blog is all about traveling Europe & our beautiful planet (F’in Perfect as she puts it!). I can’t get enough of her content and travel inspo, all while on a budget. Her pictures make you want to just jump in and go on an adventure with her and her voice resonates through her posts. It truly makes it feel like you’re traveling with a best friend!
