It’s no secret that the southwest of Florida boasts some of the world’s best beaches nestled on the Gulf of Mexico. That sandy shoreline facing the western horizon proves you can find the best sunset spots in Fort Myers Beach, Florida.
With miles and miles of sandy shoreline that recedes in the evenings, exposing thousands of seashells and marine life, twilight time on Estero Island is a moment that can’t be missed.
Lani Kai Resort
Known for being a hot-spot for spring breakers, the Lani Kai Resort is the place to be for sunset. Home to some of the best beachfront activities during the day time, the lively rooftop bar/restaurant shines at night.
For the best sunset spot at Lani Kai, make your way to the west end of the rooftop. Nestle into the corner spot beyond the gazebo. With live music, drinks and million dollar views, this is one of the best sunset spots in Fort Myers Beach.
Bowditch Point Park
Even without the sunset, the 17 acres that make up the north end of Fort Myers Beach is an incredible place to spend your time on the island. My favorite aspect of Bowditch Point Park is the close proximity to the sun.
It feels like you can reach out and touch that glowing sphere when it begins to set, with only Sanibel island in the distance blocking the view.

Times Square & the Pier
Located directly at the end of the Matanzas Pass Bridge is the bustling center called Times Square. On the weekends from 6 until 10 PM, enjoy a sunset celebration with good eats and even better live music.
The Fort Myers Beach pier beautifully juts out directly into the Gulf of Mexico. That spot on the water provides an unobstructed view to the sun dissipating behind the horizon.
North of the Bridge
Anywhere between the mile stretch of Times Square and Bowditch Point Park is a vast area of sandy beach to watch the sunset.
The closer you are to the pier, the more people there are so keep walking north until you find a subtle spot to yourself.
The reason I think the best sunset spots are in Fort Myers Beach is because of how the tide recedes during that beautiful sunset hour.
Little pockets of air in the sand, with a glistening coating of water over the top creates a perfect reflection of the colors in the sky.
Sanibel & Captiva Islands
While it’s not technically in Fort Myers, a short drive to the west will bring you to my favorite spot. Only 12 miles long, Sanibel and Captiva Islands boast some of the best unobstructed views for sunset.
